Dr. Michael Simmons is a personable and caring dentist graduating from an Ivy League dental school in 1981, with formalized post doctoral medical and dental school training in Orofacial pain and dysfunction conditions.
He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orofacial Pain and a Fellow in the American Academy of Orofacial Pain amongst many other awards. Dr. Simmons is also a well known educator and has taught at UCLA's medical school, pain management center and continues to teach every year at UCLA's dental school since 1987.
In 2008 Dr. Simmons also started teaching dentists at USC dental school. Dr. Simmons is on several committees on a national level such as the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine and teaches at the Pre Doctoral program in Dental Sleep Medicine at UCLA. Dr. Simmons has published original research, book chapters and is a frequent expert speaker in Dental and Orofacial maladies including TMJ, Orofacial Pain, Snoring and Sleep Apnea. In 2009 Dr. Simmons published a childrens's book on the perils of drowsiness called "Botts' Dots and the Rumble Line". In 2010 Dr. Simmons won the clinical excellence Research Award from the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine. He also serves as the Ethics Chairman for his local dental society of more than 1300 members and in 2011 is the continuing education program chairman.
On a personal level Dr. Simmons was born and raised in London, England moving to the U.S. at age 16. He is married for over 20 years with three teenage to adult sons. He is a past squash champion and enjoys hiking, traveling with his family, teaching and research.
